Discovering the Local Artisans of Turks & Caicos at The Shore Club and The Palms

The Stories, Soul, and Creativity Behind the Shops!

One of the most meaningful parts of travel is bringing a piece of a destination home with you.

Not simply a souvenir, but something with a story behind it. Something created by hands that know the island. Something infused with the colors, textures, culture, and spirit of the place itself.

At The Shore Club and The Palms, guests quickly discover that the experience extends far beyond the beach and luxury accommodations. Tucked within the elegant shops at the resorts is an opportunity to connect with the artistry and creative soul of Turks and Caicos through a collection of local artisans whose work reflects the beauty and heart of the islands.

Each piece tells a story.

And each artist brings a deeply personal connection to the Caribbean they call home.

One of those artists is Beach Kandi creator Kandi Hariraj, whose collection captures the whimsical, sun-soaked spirit of island life. From handmade sterling silver jewelry and beach-inspired artwork to thoughtful vacation journals designed to preserve treasured memories, her creations feel both joyful and deeply personal.

When Kandi first arrived in Turks & Caicos in 2007, she immediately fell in love with the islands — not simply for their beauty, but for the feeling they inspired. A place where creativity flows naturally. A place where artists create masterpieces and writers find inspiration beneath endless turquoise skies.

That sense of wonder lives within her work.

Each piece feels touched by sunshine, sea air, and the unmistakable colors of the Caribbean.

Guests often find themselves drawn not only to the beauty of the pieces themselves, but to the emotion behind them — reminders of quiet beach mornings, salt air sunsets, and the kind of memories that linger long after vacation ends.

Equally celebrated is local artisan Wellington Michael Williams, whose work has become instantly recognizable throughout Turks & Caicos for its unmistakable island aesthetic and handcrafted authenticity.

Born and raised in Providenciales, Wellington began creating art as a young schoolboy, crafting handmade bracelets for classmates long before building what would eventually become The Wellington Collection — a beloved local brand inspired entirely by the islands around him.

Today, his artistry blends sterling silver, native conch shell, larimar gemstones, and his signature sand-and-resin technique, capturing the colors and textures of Turks & Caicos in wearable form.

There is something deeply special about jewelry created from the very elements that define the islands themselves.

The soft blues of larimar echo the waters of the Turks & Caicos Islands. The textures of sand and shell mirror the shoreline. Every handcrafted piece feels connected to place, allowing visitors to carry a tangible piece of our islands home with them.

At The Shore Club, the artistic experience at extends beyond jewelry into fine art as well through the powerful work of Charlotte Chapman.

For many years, Chapman has called Turks & Caicos home, creating artwork centered not on postcard-perfect tourism imagery, but on the real people and human stories that shape Caribbean life.

Her subjects are women and children throughout the Caribbean and Turks & Caicos — the student, the politician, the cleaner, the barmaid, the orphan, the immigrant, the friend.

There is dignity and intention in their gaze.

Strength and humanity in their presence.

Her vibrant use of color reflects the energy and beauty of the Caribbean while also honoring the complexity, resilience, and identity of the people who live there. Chapman’s work offers something deeply authentic and emotionally moving, allowing guests to experience the islands through a more meaningful and artistic lens.

Together, these artisans help create something truly special within the Drift Boutique at The Shore Club and the Wish boutique at The Palms.

They transform shopping into connection. Into storytelling. Into an opportunity to engage more deeply with the culture and creativity of Turks & Caicos itself.

Because while the beaches may first bring travelers to the islands, it is often the people, the artistry, and the emotional connection to place that leave the most lasting impression of all.
